Frequently asked questions

Are these PHL exam calculators accurate?+

Each calculator uses the official PRC, CSC, DepEd, or AFP/PNP formula published by the issuing agency. We update the math when those formulas change (e.g., when CSC revises the salary grade table). If you spot an outdated calculation, flag it and we'll patch it within the week.

Can I use these tools on the actual board exam?+

No — PRC, CSC, and academy entrance exams have their own approved calculator policies (most allow basic non-programmable calculators only). These tools are for prep + estimation, not for the actual exam day. Use them to set targets, track progress, and decide retake strategy.

Do you store my data?+

No. Every calculator runs entirely in your browser — nothing leaves your device. Coverage Tracker uses localStorage so your ticks survive page refresh, but that data stays local. No accounts, no sign-up, no tracking of inputs.

Why do I need a different rating calculator per board?+

Each PRC board uses different subject weights and pass-mark rules. Civil Engineering weights structural at 35%; Mechanical Engineering weights machine design differently; Nursing has a 60% subject floor on top of the 75% weighted average. Generic calculators get this wrong — that's why we ship one per board.

How often are these tools updated?+

Every PRC release cycle (twice yearly) we audit pass-mark rules, formula changes, and new exam dates. Major changes (new exam schedule, formula revision) get patched within 2 weeks of the official announcement.

Which tool should I use first?+

Start with the Coverage Tracker (which subjects you've reviewed) and the Exam Date Countdown (how much prep time remains). Once you have weeks-out clarity, layer in the rating calculator for your specific board to set realistic target scores.
