For the 2027 scholarships you must be a natural-born Filipino and either a Grade 12 student graduating in SY 2026–27 or a senior high graduate with no college units. STEM-strand students can all apply; students from other strands must be in the top 5% of their class.
There are two tracks: RA 7687, which also applies DOST-SEI's socioeconomic cut-offs, and Merit, which has no income test. Both qualify through the same nationwide exam.

When is the DOST-SEI scholarship exam?
The nationwide qualifying exam for the 2027 undergraduate scholarships is on 14–15 November 2026; online applications closed on 17 September 2026. Test permits come in October, and results are expected around March 2027.
What's on the DOST-SEI exam?
Three timed parts in one sitting: Creative Reasoning plus Language and Literature (45 minutes), Science (65 minutes) and Mathematics (70 minutes). Every item has four options and your score is the number of correct answers — no deduction for wrong ones.
What does the scholarship cover?
Per DOST's 2026 figures: tuition and fees up to ₱40,000 per school year, an ₱8,000 monthly living allowance and ₱10,000 a year for learning materials and connectivity, plus thesis, graduation, transportation and clothing allowances and insurance.
How hard is it to qualify?
In the 2026 cycle, 8,500 of 97,617 examinees qualified (8.71%): 5,100 under RA 7687 and 3,400 under the Merit track. In 2025 it was 10,907 of 84,518 (12.90%).
