What the real AFPSAT covers
The Armed Forces of the Philippines Service Aptitude Test is the written entrance test for officer candidates and enlisted personnel joining the Army, Air Force and Navy. It replaced the older AFP Aptitude Test Battery and is one of several screening steps. Because it tests aptitude rather than a course, steady practice moves the score.

The AFP doesn't publish the number of items, the time limit or a passing score.
Qualifying standard
There's no published passing score — each major service sets its own cut-off. The portal says a retake needs approval after a six-month waiting period, so aim to pass the first time.
When it's held
No national date. Register online, then the testing office of your chosen service gives you a slot. Confirm the schedule with that recruitment office.
A study plan that works
- Diagnose first. Take this test and note your weakest subtests — an even score across all of them is the safe goal.
- Bank the fundamentals. Numerical and verbal items reward speed — short daily drills on percentages, ratio, vocabulary and analogies add up.
- Don't skip General Information. Philippine history, geography and the Constitution are learnable, high-yield points.
- Train logical and spatial items with timed sets. Series, coding, direction sense and figure patterns get much faster with practice.

What is the passing score for the AFPSAT?
The AFP doesn't publish one, and each major service sets its own cut-off. The item count isn't published either. Aim for a strong, even score across every subtest.
What does the AFPSAT cover?
It's an aptitude test, not a course exam: verbal, numerical, logical and spatial reasoning, plus general information. This diagnostic samples all of them.
When is the AFPSAT held?
There's no single national date. You register online, then the testing office of the service you're applying to — Army, Navy or Air Force — gives you an exam slot. For example, the Army Testing Office in Cagayan de Oro runs officer-candidate batches on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays in 2026, and candidate-soldier batches on Thursdays.
What do I need to take the AFPSAT?
The AFPSAT portal lists your original transcript or Form 137, your original college diploma, a PSA birth certificate, a valid ID and a 2x2 photo. It describes the service as free — confirm the details with the recruitment office you're applying to.
Do PMA cadets take the AFPSAT?
No. The Philippine Military Academy has its own entrance exam, the PMAEE. The AFPSAT is the written entrance test for officer candidates and enlisted personnel of the Army, Air Force and Navy.
