Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between SG and step?

Salary Grade (SG) is your position's pay tier, set by job description. Step is your time-in-grade — you step up after 3 years of satisfactory performance, capped at step 8. Promotion changes SG; step movement happens automatically.

Tranche 4 of SSL VI took effect January 2026 — it's the most recent across-the-board increase for civilian government employees. We use those numbers as the default. Earlier tranches are still relevant for retro pay disputes.

No — this is monthly basic pay. Take-home subtracts ~13% (PhilHealth, GSIS, withholding tax) and may add allowances (PERA ₱2,000, RATA, hazard pay). Most government employees see 87–95% of gross as net.

13th-month is a full month's basic pay paid in November. Mid-year bonus = one month basic in May (after 4 months of service). Productivity Enhancement Incentive (PEI) is ₱20,000 in December. Total annualised pay ≈ basic × 14.5–15.

Career Service Sub-Pro lets you apply for SG 1–10 positions. Career Service Pro lets you apply for SG 11+ positions, including teaching and entry-level professional roles. Without CSE eligibility you can only hold contractual/casual positions in government.
