Percentile rank = (number of takers − your rank) ÷ number of takers × 100. Top % = your rank ÷ number of takers × 100.
It works on any ranking where 1 is the best. Ties are treated as separate ranks.

What is a percentile rank?
The share of takers who placed below you. If you rank 120th out of 2,400, 2,280 people are behind you, so your percentile rank is 95 — you're in the top 5%.
Can I turn my exam score into a percentile?
Only if you know how everyone else scored. Philippine exam agencies publish the number of passers and examinees, not the full score distribution, so a score-to-percentile conversion would be a guess. If you know your rank — from a mock-exam leaderboard, a class ranking or a published list — this calculator gives the exact percentile.
How does this relate to passing rates?
The passing rate tells you what share of examinees passed. On the Civil Service Exam, for example, about 15% of Professional examinees pass — so passing puts you roughly in the top 15% of that sitting. See the board exam passing rates page for each exam's figures.
Does rank 1 mean the 100th percentile?
Close to it. With this formula the top rank out of N takers is ahead of N − 1 people, so its percentile is just under 100.
