What the real LET covers

The Licensure Examination for Teachers is given by the Professional Regulation Commission through the Board for Professional Teachers, twice a year. It is a one-day, paper-based exam at two levels — Elementary (for BEEd graduates) and Secondary (for BSEd graduates). Passing earns your professional teacher licence.

Specialization has 150 items for most majors and 120 for Mathematics. PRC also runs an Elementary "with specialization" track (for BECEd, BSNEd, BTLEd, BTVTEd, BPEd and BCAEd graduates) weighted 20/40/40.

Passing score

A weighted general average of 75% with no test below 50%. In March 2026, 56.03% of Elementary and 73.10% of Secondary examinees passed.

Next exam

The 20 September 2026 LET has been held (results targeted for 27 November 2026). The next LET is expected in March 2027, not yet announced — PRC hasn't published its 2027 schedule.

A study plan that works

  1. Diagnose first. Take this test and note your two or three weakest topics — that's where each review hour buys the most points.
  2. Front-load Professional Education. It carries 60% (Elementary) or 40% (Secondary) of your rating and rewards understanding theorists, assessment and curriculum over memorising.
  3. Keep General Education warm. Short daily drills on English, Filipino, Math and Science keep it fresh without much time.
  4. Secondary examinees: guard your major. Specialization is 40% of your rating — give it a full third of your study time.
  5. Practise under time limits. Gen Ed is 2 hours and Prof Ed 3 hours — build the pace before exam day.

What is the passing score for the LET?

You pass the LET with a weighted general average of at least 75% and no test below 50%. This diagnostic is a 20-item sample, so treat your score as a readiness check, not a prediction of your official rating.

When is the next LET?

The LET was held on 15 March and 20 September 2026; PRC targets releasing the September results by 27 November 2026. The next LET is expected in March 2027, but PRC hasn't published its 2027 exam schedule yet — check prc.gov.ph before you plan your review.

What does the LET cover?

Everyone takes General Education (150 items) and Professional Education (150 items). Secondary examinees also take their Specialization (150 items for most majors, 120 for Mathematics). Elementary examinees on PRC's newer "with specialization" track take a Specialization test too. It's all one day, on paper.

How accurate is this readiness score?

It reflects how you did on a 20-question sample (about 8 Gen Ed, 12 Prof Ed). It's an honest snapshot of your current level and weak topics — not PRC's computation. Use it to decide where to focus.

Can I use this for both LET Elementary and Secondary?

Yes. General Education and Professional Education are common to both levels. Secondary examinees should review their Specialization separately — it's 40% of the Secondary rating.
