DepEd (Department of Education) runs public basic education in the Philippines and is the largest employer of teachers.
Teaching and school leadership positions (DepEd-DBM Joint Circular No. 1, s. 2025):
- Teacher I–VII (SG 11–17) — classroom teaching
- Master Teacher I–V (SG 18–22) — senior classroom teaching
- School Principal I–IV (SG 19–22) — school administration
- Division, regional and central office positions above the school level
Getting hired:
1. Pass the LET and get your PRC teaching license
2. Apply to the schools division office when it announces vacancies
3. Go through DepEd's evaluation and ranking process
4. Get appointed and assigned to a school

- A Teacher I (SG 11) earns ₱31,705/month at Step 1 in 2026, plus PERA, a ₱10,000 yearly teaching allowance and the standard bonuses
