DepEd Teacher Salary 2026: Complete Breakdown

A DepEd Teacher I earns ₱31,705 a month (Salary Grade 11, Step 1) in 2026. That's the third tranche of Executive Order No. 64 (s. 2024), implemented by DBM National Budget Circular No. 601 and effective 1 January 2026. Classroom ranks run from Teacher I up to Master Teacher V (SG 22, ₱81,796). On top of basic pay come PERA, a yearly teaching allowance and several bonuses. The fourth and final tranche takes effect on 1 January 2027, when Teacher I rises to ₱33,387.

Base salary by position (2026, Step 1)

Teacher IV to VII and Master Teacher V were created by the Expanded Career Progression system (EO 174, s. 2022). The grade for each rank follows DepEd-DBM Joint Circular No. 1, s. 2025.

2027 update: the fourth and final tranche

2026 is the third of four tranches under EO 64. The fourth takes effect on 1 January 2027: Teacher I goes from ₱31,705 to ₱33,387, Teacher II to ₱35,650, Teacher III to ₱37,828 and Master Teacher I to ₱56,332 (Step 1). No new salary standardization law or order has been issued for later years. Bills proposing a higher entry pay for teachers have been filed in Congress, but none has been passed.

Allowances and bonuses

On top of basic pay, DepEd teachers receive:

• PERA: ₱2,000 a month
• Teaching allowance: ₱10,000 a year from SY 2025–26, tax-free (RA 11997, the Kabalikat sa Pagtuturo Act)
• Mid-year bonus: one month's basic pay (May)
• Year-end bonus: one month's basic pay, which is the government's "13th-month pay", plus a ₱5,000 cash gift (November)
• Productivity Enhancement Incentive (PEI): ₱5,000 for FY 2025
• Medical allowance: up to ₱7,000 a year from FY 2025 (EO 64)
• Performance-Based Bonus (PBB): varies with the school's and your rating; not guaranteed
• Special hardship allowance: for teachers in qualifying hardship or remote posts

What that adds up to

For a Teacher I at Step 1, the guaranteed items above come to about ₱495,000 a year, or roughly ₱41,000 a month on average, before any PBB and before deductions:

Take-home pay is lower: GSIS (9% of basic pay), PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG and withholding tax come out of each payslip.

Step increments

Each salary grade has eight steps. You move up a step for every three years of continuous satisfactory service, and merit steps can be granted on top. For Teacher I (SG 11), Step 8 is ₱33,611 in 2026.

Promotion

Promotion follows DepEd's merit selection rules: the qualification standards for the next rank, your performance ratings and the other criteria DepEd sets for each position. Under DepEd-DBM Joint Circular No. 1, s. 2025, the old Head Teacher titles are being retitled into the new ladder (for example, Head Teacher I becomes Teacher IV).
