Filipino Nurse Abroad 2026: NCLEX, NMC, Saudi, AHPRA
Filipino Nurse Overseas Pathways: US, UK, Saudi, Australia, Canada
The Philippines is the world's largest source of internationally trained nurses. The vast majority of NLE passers eventually work overseas. Each destination has specific credentialing requirements.
United States (largest destination)
- Pathway: NLE → NCLEX-RN exam → state board licence → visa (EB-3 immigration or H-1B)
- Typical entry salary: USD 65,000-95,000/year (~₱310,000-₱450,000/month)
- Major employers: HCA, Trinity, Tenet hospital networks; dialysis chains; long-term care
- Time from NLE to deployment: 12-18 months typically
- Cost: USD 5,000-10,000 in fees + study materials + visa processing
- English requirement: TOEFL or IELTS
US is the largest single market. Compensation is 5-8x typical PHL private hospital pay.
United Kingdom

- English requirement: IELTS 7.0 (or OET equivalent)

- Often includes: housing, transport, medical insurance, return airfare annually
- Time: 3-6 months from NLE
- Cost: minimal — DataFlow + Prometric ~USD 800-1,500

Middle East is the most accessible overseas pathway — fastest deployment + significant compensation jump from PHL.
Singapore

- Language barrier is the binding constraint
Common Filipino nurse career trajectory
- Year 1-3: PHL hospital experience
- Year 3-7: Saudi/UAE deployment (compensation 3-5x PHL)

- Year 15+: Settled overseas with PR or citizenship
