Salary Grade (SG) is the pay scale for civilian Philippine government positions, from SG 1 (lowest) to SG 33 (the President). Grades 1 to 32 have 8 steps; SG 33 has 2. Uniformed personnel (police, military, fire, jail) use a separate Base Pay Schedule.

- SG 1: ₱14,634/month (e.g., Administrative Aide I)
- SG 11: ₱31,705/month (e.g., Teacher I, Administrative Officer II)
- SG 15: ₱42,178/month (e.g., Nurse I)
- SG 18: ₱53,818/month (e.g., Master Teacher I)
- SG 24: ₱102,603/month (e.g., Nurse VII, Chief of Hospital I)
- SG 27: ₱148,940/month (e.g., Director III)
- SG 30: ₱210,718/month (e.g., Undersecretary)
- SG 33: ₱449,157/month (the President)

What it means for you:
- Government pay is published — you can look up what any position pays
- You move up one step for every three years of satisfactory service, and agencies can grant merit steps
- Promotion to a higher-grade position is the bigger pay jump
- PERA (₱2,000/month), mid-year and year-end bonuses and a ₱5,000 cash gift come on top of basic pay
