Choosing a College After CET Acceptance: Decision Framework

If you've taken multiple CETs (typical Filipino strategy) and been accepted to multiple universities, you face a real decision. Here's the framework.

Decision factors (in priority order)

1. Cost vs family budget

This is often the binding constraint:

If family budget is constrained, RA 10931-funded SUC (UP, PUP, etc.) often wins by default.

2. Programme strength

Different universities are strong in different programmes:

If your career interest aligns clearly with one university's strength, that university is the right choice (assuming cost works).

3. Geographic preference

Universities are spread across PHL:

• Manila: UP Diliman/Manila, Ateneo, DLSU, UST, FEU, PUP, Mapua, etc.
• Cebu: USC, USJ-R, UP Cebu, Cebu Institute of Medicine
• Davao: USEP, Ateneo de Davao
• Iligan: MSU-IIT
• Other regional: UP Visayas, UP Baguio, UP Tacloban, UP Mindanao, regional state universities
