The Bureau of Fire Protection is a uniformed service. Like the PNP, it is paid on the MUP Base Pay Schedule under EO 107, not the civilian Salary Grade table. BFP ranks sit in the same base-pay tiers as their police equivalents.

Base pay only, first tranche effective 1 Jan 2026 under EO 107, per DBM NBC 600 Annex A, which lists no BFP rank above Director. Two more tranches follow on 1 Jan 2027 and 1 Jan 2028.

The exam behind this job: the Fire Officer Examination
BFP applicants usually qualify through the Civil Service Commission's Fire Officer Examination (FOE): 150 scored items, a general rating of 80.00 to pass and a ₱700 fee. It was last held on 7 June 2026 (16.19% passed) and isn't on the CSC's 2027 calendar.
The CSC says holders of Career Service Professional or board/bar (RA 1080) eligibility don't need to take the FOE. The next Career Service Exam is on 14 March 2027, with applications from 2 November 2026.
