How barangay pay actually works
Unlike teachers or nurses, barangay officials are not paid a fixed Salary Grade salary. They receive an honorarium whose ceiling is pegged to a Salary Grade, and the actual amount depends on the income classification of the city or municipality the barangay belongs to. Wealthier LGUs pay closer to the SG-pegged ceiling; lower-income LGUs pay less.

Honoraria may not exceed the first step of the pegged Salary Grade in the city/municipality concerned (DBM Local Budget Circular guidance under RA 7160). The reference figures show the 2026 SG 1 rate for context; actual honoraria vary by LGU income class and local ordinance.
The statutory minimum under RA 7160
The Local Government Code (RA 7160) sets a floor: at least ₱1,000/month for the Punong Barangay and ₱600/month for Sangguniang Barangay members, the barangay secretary and treasurer. In practice most barangays pay well above this floor, because the honorarium is allowed to rise up to the SG-pegged ceiling as local funds allow. Officials are also entitled to Christmas bonus and, in many LGUs, insurance and other benefits.
