Filipino Pharmacist Career Value: PH and Overseas
RA 10918 (the Philippine Pharmacy Act, 2016) regulates the practice of pharmacy. The license is required to practice as a pharmacist, for example to dispense in a community or hospital pharmacy.
Where licensed pharmacists work
- Community pharmacy: drugstore chains and independent pharmacies
- Hospital pharmacy: private and government hospitals
- Industry: manufacturing, quality, regulatory affairs, medical information
- Pharmaceutical sales and marketing
- Government: DOH, FDA, LGU health offices and government hospitals
- Teaching: pharmacy schools
Private-sector pay varies widely by employer and city, so compare actual job postings. Government pharmacist posts are paid by salary grade; the salary grade table shows 2026 amounts.
Overseas
A PH license is a starting point. Each country has its own route, for example the FPGEC certification and NAPLEX in the US, the Pharmacy Board of Australia, the Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada, and health-ministry licensing exams in the Gulf. Check the official body's current requirements before you plan around a route.
