Every NAPOLCOM and AFPSAT season, the same question shows up: which reviewer is actually worth the money? The market is full of repackaged content and "latest edition" books with no clear revision date. This list sorts the options by type — printed books, free sources, official documents and apps — and matches them to what each exam actually covers.

First: Know What Each Exam Covers

A reviewer is only as good as its match to the real exam. The NAPOLCOM PNP Entrance Exam (PNPE) is a 3-hour test in four areas: General Information/Uprightness (Constitution, PNP laws, criminal justice system, values), Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning and Logical Reasoning. The pass mark is 70%. There's no clerical or separate "police knowledge" subtest.

The AFPSAT is the AFP's unified written entrance test. The AFP doesn't publish its subtests, item count or passing score; review materials generally cover verbal, numerical, logical and spatial reasoning plus general information.

1. Brainbox NAPOLCOM Comprehensive Reviewer (Printed Book)

A printed NAPOLCOM reviewer from Brainbox Tutorial Center, sold at National Book Store and online shops. Its listing describes exam guidelines, topic-by-topic modules, practice tests with answer sheets, and answer keys with explanations.

How to use it — as your first-pass content review. Check the edition and compare its coverage against the four official PNPE areas above before you rely on it.

2. Other Printed NAPOLCOM Reviewers

Several other NAPOLCOM reviewer books are sold in bookstores and online shops. Quality varies a lot between titles and editions.

What to check — a clear copyright or revision date, the current rank title (Patrolman/Patrolwoman, not PO1), answer explanations rather than bare keys, and no invented subtests.

3. Free Online Reviewer Sites

Several free NAPOLCOM and AFPSAT reviewer websites and apps exist.

Strengths — free, quick, browser-based.

Weaknesses — item quality is inconsistent, many don't explain answers, and some carry outdated rules (old rank names, a 50% pass mark). Use them for variety, not as your main source.

4. The Official Announcements and the Laws Themselves

The cheapest high-value "reviewer" is free: NAPOLCOM's exam announcement lists the exact coverage, and the General Information area draws on public texts — the 1987 Constitution, RA 6975, RA 8551 and RA 11200 (the PNP rank titles). Read the actual provisions, not a paraphrase.

For the AFPSAT, the official portal lists the requirements and exam-day rules but not the content. Ask your recruitment office what it tells applicants to review.

7. Reasoning Books for the Logical and Verbal Areas

General critical-reasoning and civil-service-style reasoning books help with the logical, verbal and numerical areas that both exams share.

Strengths — deep coverage of syllogisms, assumptions and conclusions, and data interpretation.

Weaknesses — not NAPOLCOM- or AFPSAT-specific. Use them to shore up a weak area, not as your main text.

What to Skip

• Reviewers without a copyright or revision date — you can't tell what's been updated.
• "Leaked" questions on Telegram or Facebook — neither NAPOLCOM nor the AFP releases its exam questions. NAPOLCOM bars cheaters permanently, and the AFPSAT portal names leakage as a problem.
• Photocopies sold near testing centres — unknown source, unknown accuracy.
• Generic IQ test books — they don't follow the NAPOLCOM coverage.

Don't rely on anything sold as "leaked". Neither NAPOLCOM nor the AFP releases its exam questions, and cheating on the NAPOLCOM exam means a permanent bar.

Are review centres worth it?

How long should the prep period be?

Give the NAPOLCOM PNPE 8–12 weeks, because General Information includes laws you have to learn. The AFPSAT is aptitude-focused, so 4–8 weeks of consistent practice is a sensible starting point.

Are the AFPSAT and NAPOLCOM PNPE the same?

No. The AFPSAT screens applicants to the Army, Navy and Air Force. The NAPOLCOM PNPE gives the eligibility for appointment as a PNP Patrolman/Patrolwoman. Different exams, different agencies.
