A 3-hour, pen-and-paper, multiple-choice test covering General Information/Uprightness (the Constitution, PNP laws, the criminal justice system, values), Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning and Logical Reasoning. NAPOLCOM doesn't state the item count. A 70% general rating. 24–35% of examinees passed in the last three sittings. Passing gives the eligibility needed for appointment as Patrolman/Patrolwoman.

Month-by-month NAPOLCOM PNPE plan
Weeks 1–2: Diagnostic
Four areas, 3 hours, 70% to pass
- Take a timed practice test
- List the area that cost you most
- Set a 45–60 minute daily slot
Weeks 3–6: Verbal and quantitative
Vocabulary, comprehension, grammar, percentages, fractions, number series
- Daily vocabulary and reading drills
- Math problems and bar-graph questions
- Time yourself early
Weeks 7–9: General Information and logic
The Constitution, PNP laws, the criminal justice system, values
- Read RA 6975 and RA 8551 once each
- Verbal and non-verbal logic drills
- Mix all four areas in timed sets
Final 2 weeks: Full practice tests
