ECE Electronics Engineer Career Value: PH and Overseas

RA 9292 (the Electronics Engineering Law of 2004) regulates the practice of electronics engineering. The license (Electronics Engineer, ECE) is what lets you practice the profession, sign and seal electronics plans within the law's scope, and hold professional engineering posts.

Where licensed ECEs work

• Telecoms: network, RF, transmission and operations roles at carriers and their vendors
• Semiconductor and electronics manufacturing: process, test, product and equipment engineering
• Broadcast: transmission and studio engineering
• IT and software: many ECE graduates move into networking, embedded systems and software
• Government: agencies such as the NTC and DICT, and government corporations

Overseas

A PH license is a starting point, not a pass abroad. Each country assesses engineers its own way (for example Engineers Australia or a Canadian provincial regulator), and Gulf employers have their own registration steps.
