The Philippine National Police Academy is where the police, fire and jail services train their academy-bred officers. Before you take the PNPA Cadet Admission Test, it helps to know what the four years involve.

What the four years involve

PNPA is a residential academy: cadets live, study and train at the academy under strict discipline. The programme combines a full degree in public safety with the physical conditioning, leadership training and professional preparation that officers in the police, fire and jail services need. PNPA's own qualifications stress that applicants must be "physically and mentally fit to undergo rigorous training".

PNPA doesn't publish a detailed daily schedule or its dropout figures, so be wary of the exact timetables you see online. What's safe to expect: early mornings, regular physical training, classes, drills and study hours, and limited free time — especially in the first year.

Pay during cadetship

Under the 2026 pay schedule for uniformed personnel (EO 107, DBM NBC 600), a Cadet's monthly base pay is ₱40,284.

After graduation

Graduates are commissioned as Police Lieutenants (PNP) or Inspectors (BFP or BJMP). In 2026 that rank's monthly base pay is ₱52,004. See PNPA officer career and pay for the rank table.

Is PNPA right for you?

PNPA suits you if you want a career in law enforcement, fire protection or jail management, can handle strict discipline and residential training for four years, and are ready to train hard physically. Check the eligibility rules early: you must be 18 to 22 years old before 1 May 2027 for the 2026 intake, single with no child to support, at least 5'2" (male) or 5'0" (female), with a GWA of at least 85%.
