Is There a Clerical Section in the BJMP Exam?
No. The written exam for BJMP applicants is the Civil Service Commission's Penology Officer Examination (POE), and it has no clerical section — no alphabetizing, filing or name-and-number comparison part. Among CSC exams, clerical items belong to the CSE Subprofessional, not the POE.
What the POE actually covers
150 scored multiple-choice items (plus a 10-item personal-data questionnaire), 3 hours 5 minutes, pen and paper:

Where clerical-style drills still help
Clerical drills train speed and accuracy on small details. Both matter on the POE, just in different places.
- PDL records and procedures. The jail management part includes PDL classification, commitment and release, and PDL records. Items can turn on one detail of a procedure — the same eye for detail that name-and-number comparison trains.
- Keeping laws apart. The special-laws part names RA 6975, RA 9263, RA 9592, RA 6713, RA 9745 (Anti-Torture), RA 10592 (GCTA) and RA 11362 (Community Service Act). Make a one-page table (number, short title, what it does) and quiz yourself until you can match them instantly.
- Mandela vs Bangkok Rules. Know which set covers what: the Mandela Rules are the UN standard minimum rules for the treatment of prisoners; the Bangkok Rules cover women prisoners. Sort practice statements into the right set.
- Answer-sheet accuracy. With about 70 seconds per item, a misaligned row costs more than a hard question. Check your item number every ten items.
