BJMP Salary by Rank: Jail Officer I to Jail Director
A BJMP Jail Officer I earns ₱31,151 a month in base pay in 2026, up from ₱29,668 in 2025. The increase comes from Executive Order No. 107 (s. 2025), which updates base pay for military and uniformed personnel (MUP) in three yearly tranches, the first on 1 January 2026. BJMP pay follows the MUP Base Pay Schedule — not the civilian Salary Grade table. The top career rank, Jail Director, earns ₱108,041 a month.

Allowances on top of base pay
- Subsistence allowance: ₱350 a day from 1 January 2026 (about ₱10,500 a month).
- PERA: ₱2,000 a month.
- Other allowances and bonuses depend on the rules in force; check the BJMP's current compensation guidance rather than relying on "all-in" estimates.
How you get in
- Jail Officer I: you need the Penology Officer eligibility, which you get by passing the CSC Penology Officer Exam (POE) — the last one was held on 7 June 2026 and no 2027 date has been set. - Jail Inspector: graduates of the PNPA can be commissioned as Jail Inspector.
What the BJMP does
Under RA 6975, the BJMP supervises city and municipal jails, which hold people awaiting investigation or trial, city and municipal prisoners, and inmates waiting for transfer to a national penitentiary. The POE's specialized half mirrors this: jail management and operations, the rules for the treatment of persons deprived of liberty (PDL), and the special laws that govern the service.
