PUPCET Math Review: Topics to Practise
The PUP College Entrance Test is one of the most-taken entrance tests in the country — about 135,000 applicants registered for the AY 2026–27 cycle — and PUP's official iApply procedure shows no payment step. PUP doesn't publish the test's subtests, but reviewer sites consistently report a mathematics section. For non-STEM applicants, it's often the area where practice pays off most.

Algebra
- Linear equations in one and two variables, including word problems
- Quadratic equations: factoring, the quadratic formula
- Systems of equations
- Exponents and radicals
- Polynomial operations and factoring
- Linear inequalities
- Sequences and series basics
- Functions and graphs
Most algebra word problems need one of three setups: two linear equations, a single quadratic, or a rate equation. Practise spotting which.
Geometry
- Triangles: angle sums, congruence, similarity, 30-60-90 and 45-45-90 triangles
- Circles: area, circumference, arc length, sector area
- Polygons: interior and exterior angles
- Coordinate geometry: distance, midpoint, slope, lines
- Area and volume of common solids
- The Pythagorean theorem
Trigonometry
- SOH-CAH-TOA
- Unit-circle values for 0°, 30°, 45°, 60°, 90°
- Cofunctions of complementary angles
- The Pythagorean identity
- Angle of elevation and depression
Statistics and probability
- Mean, median, mode and range
- Reading charts and graphs
- Basic probability and counting
Number sense
- Divisibility, prime factorisation, GCF and LCM
- Percentages, including reverse percentages
- Ratios and proportions
Practise without a calculator unless your ePermit says otherwise.
