PUPCET Cutoff and Passing Rate: What's Actually Known

"What's the PUPCET passing score?" and "What's the PUPCET passing rate?" are asked every cycle. PUP doesn't publish either — no official cutoff, no programme cutoffs, and no official passing rate. Tables online with year-by-year "acceptance rates" or campus-by-campus score cutoffs are guesses.

What was reported for AY 2026–27

• About 135,000 applicants registered for the PUPCET, and 21,840 sat the first Sta. Mesa batch on 18 January 2026 (GMA News).
• About 100,000 took the Sta. Mesa exam, against roughly 20,000 freshman slots system-wide, of which about 10,000–12,000 were at Sta. Mesa (Summit Express).
• That implies a passing rate under 10% — but that's the outlet's own estimate, not a PUP figure.
• Sta. Mesa results were released on 26 May 2026.

Why you can apply to only one campus

PUP lets you apply to one campus, once per academic year — multiple applications void your result. That makes your campus choice the biggest decision you control.

Choosing your campus

1. Check which campuses offer your programme. Not every programme is offered everywhere.
2. Weigh demand. Sta. Mesa draws by far the most applicants; a branch campus near you may be less crowded for the same programme. PUP doesn't publish figures, so you can't know exactly by how much.
3. Think about daily life. Commute time and living costs matter over four years.
4. Keep other applications open — state and local universities and private schools run their own tests.

Make sure you're eligible

You need a GWA of at least 82% (Grade 12 students or K-12 graduates who haven't enrolled in college), or to be a PEPT, ALS or NFEA&E passer. You'll upload your Grade 11 report card.
