DLSUCET 2026: The Complete Guide for Filipino Applicants

The De La Salle University College Entrance Test draws about 20,000 applicants per cycle for slots across DLSU-Manila's 7 colleges + the One La Salle network (CSB, DLSU-D, DLS-CSB Antipolo). DLSU admits roughly 5,000 freshmen to the Manila campus, plus another 8,000+ across the network.

This guide walks through the exam format, programme cutoffs at the Taft Avenue main campus, the One La Salle network admission pathway, financial aid options, and a 90-day prep plan that runs parallel with UPCAT + ACET.

For 2026: DLSU's published schedule typically runs DLSUCET in September 2026 with results in December–January. Application opens via the Admissions portal in June 2026. Verify on dlsu.edu.ph.

1. What the DLSUCET tests

The DLSUCET is a 4-section paper exam, ~3.5 hours total:

  1. English Language Proficiency — grammar, vocabulary, sentence completion
  2. Reading Comprehension — short + medium passages with inference items
  3. Mathematics — algebra, geometry, trigonometry, basic statistics
  4. Abstract Reasoning — pattern recognition, figure analogies, logical sequences

All multiple choice with 4 options. No published negative marking. ~150 items total.

The Math scope is heavier than ACET but lighter than UPCAT (no calculus). Trigonometry shows up reliably across cycles — it's the most-tested topic within Math, accounting for ~25% of the section.

2. Cutoff bands by programme

DLSU doesn't publish exact DLSUCET cutoffs. Observed admissions patterns:

Programme tierComposite (DLSUCET + GPA) bandExamples
Highly competitiveTop 5%BS Computer Science, BS Industrial Engineering, BS Business Management Honors
CompetitiveTop 15%BS Civil + Mechanical Engineering, BS Accountancy, AB Communication
Moderately competitiveTop 30%AB Economics, AB Psychology, BS Biology
Standard admissionTop 50%Several non-quota programmes, smaller cohorts

DLSU runs a strong industry pipeline — Big 4 firms, multinationals, BPOs recruit heavily from BS Accountancy + BS Computer Science. The competition for these programmes is consistently among the tightest of any PH private university.

3. The One La Salle network — your safety options

This is what most DLSUCET applicants don't fully use. La Salle runs a shared admission system across the network:

  • DLSU-Manila (Taft): The flagship campus
  • De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (CSB): Strong design, multimedia, and management programmes
  • De La Salle University-Dasmariñas (DLSU-D): Cavite campus, lower competition than Manila
  • DLS-CSB Antipolo: Newer Rizal campus

Applying via DLSUCET makes you eligible for all four campuses with a single test. If you don't qualify for DLSU-Manila, you can still receive offers from CSB, DLSU-D, or CSB Antipolo. Most applicants don't tick the boxes for these alternatives — they only check Manila + are then surprised they get rejected outright.

The smart pattern: tick all 4 campuses on your application. Even if Manila is your dream, having a real safety at DLSU-D Cavite is worth more than reapplying next cycle.

4. The 90-day prep plan

Calibrated for SHS graduates running parallel UPCAT + ACET prep.

Weeks 1–2: Diagnose

Run one full DLSUCET-format mock (~150 items, 3.5 hours). Most takers score 60–72 cold. Identify your two weakest sections.

Weeks 3–6: Focused drill

Most common weak pairing: Mathematics (trigonometry depth) + Abstract Reasoning (no formal high school exposure).

  • Mon/Wed/Fri (90 min): Math drill (focus on trig + word problems)
  • Tue/Thu (90 min): Abstract Reasoning (figure analogies, sequence completion, syllogisms)
  • Saturday (3 hrs): Mixed mock
  • Sunday: Off

Weeks 7–10: Mock + final review

Two full mocks per week. Wednesday wrong-answer review.

Weeks 11–12: Taper

Cut hours by half. Light maintenance.

5. Financial aid — the part most applicants don't know

DLSU has one of the strongest aid systems among PH private universities:

  • Star Scholarship: Full tuition + monthly stipend for top admits with demonstrated need
  • Br. Felipe Sarmiento Scholarship: Partial-to-full tuition for academic merit
  • Catholic Education Foundation grants: Need-based aid via CEAP-affiliated foundations
  • JR Garcia Engineering Scholarship: Full tuition for top BS Engineering admits in Class C–D household income brackets

Compared to UP (free under RA 10931) or PUP (free), DLSU is genuinely expensive — annual tuition + fees ~₱180,000–₱220,000 depending on programme. The aid system makes it accessible for top-tier admits with demonstrated need.

6. DLSUCET vs UPCAT vs ACET vs USTET

Apply to all four. The prep effort overlaps ~80%, the marginal cost per additional application is small (~₱700–₱1,200), and any rejection from one is partially offset by acceptance at another.

UP + PUP win on tuition. ACET + DLSU + USTET win on programme breadth + industry placement networks. Application strategy: free state universities + 2–3 private universities on the same prep cycle.

7. What it costs to prepare

PathCost
Major review centre (CET-track)₱5,000 – ₱12,000
Online course₱2,000 – ₱5,000
Self-study with reviewer books₱500 – ₱1,500
Free past papers + structured tool₱500 – ₱3,000

DLSUCET fee: ~₱1,000 application + ~₱200 testing centre fee.

8. If you're rejected

About 75% of DLSUCET applicants don't get into DLSU-Manila. Reasonable next steps:

  • Check your One La Salle status — you may have CSB, DLSU-D, or CSB Antipolo offers
  • Apply to ADMU + UST + UP via parallel cycles — they evaluate independently
  • Re-take DLSUCET next cycle — DLSU permits reapplication; gap-year prep is worth doing if you scored within 5 percentile points of cutoff
  • Lateral admission via DLS-affiliated colleges — possible after sophomore year with strong grades
