Is a CEU Degree Worth It? How to Judge the Value

Centro Escolar University is best known for health programmes such as dentistry, pharmacy and optometry, alongside nursing, medical technology, education and business. Whether a CEU degree is worth it for you depends on the programme, the full cost and your other options.

We won't quote salary averages, board-exam pass rates or placement figures — CEU doesn't publish them in a form we can check. Here's how to judge the value yourself.

1. Start with the programme

Look at the curriculum, clinical or practicum arrangements, facilities, and where recent graduates work. For board-exam courses, look up the school's results in official PRC releases yourself rather than relying on second-hand claims.

2. Check for programme-specific tests

Some CEU programmes — including Dentistry, Pharmacy (PharmD), Medicine and Law — run their own admission tests. Find out early.

3. Work out the full cost

Get current tuition and fees for your programme from CEU, then add books, equipment, housing, food and transport. Health programmes often carry extra lab and clinic costs.

4. Fee waivers and scholarships

Under RA 12006, private universities must waive entrance-test fees for eligible natural-born Filipino applicants in the top 10% of their class from families below the poverty threshold. Ask CEU about its scholarships too.

5. Questions to ask before you commit

• Does this programme lead where I want to go?
• Can my family sustain the full cost for the whole programme?
• Have I applied for every scholarship and waiver I qualify for?
• How does this offer compare with my other options?
