A topnotcher is a board exam passer who ranks among the top 10 nationwide for their licensure exam. The PRC publishes the list of top examinees together with the results (ties can make the list longer).
Why people care:
- It's a public recognition of an exceptional score
- Schools and review programs often highlight their topnotchers
- Some employers and scholarship programs take notice
What it means for you:
- Aim to pass comfortably first — a strong, steady review is what tends to produce high scores
- Topnotcher status is a nice credential, but most licensed professionals build successful careers without it
