The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) is the Philippine government agency that administers professional board exams, issues licenses, and regulates the practice of 40+ professions including nursing, teaching, accounting, engineering, medicine, criminology, pharmacy, midwifery, and more.
PRC is under the Office of the President. Each regulated profession has a Professional Regulatory Board (PRB) that sets exam content, evaluates passers, and enforces ethical practice.
What it means for you:
- To practice a regulated profession in PHL, you must pass the PRC board exam for that profession + register with PRC
- PRC issues a Professional Identification Card (PRC ID) renewable every 3 years
- Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credits are required for renewal
- PRC publishes exam schedules, registration deadlines, and results on prc.gov.ph
Common touchpoints:
- PRC application (initial registration to take board exam)
- PRC board exam (the licensure exam itself)
- PRC oath-taking (post-passing ceremony)
- PRC ID renewal (every 3 years)
- CPD compliance (credits per renewal cycle)
