ROTC (Reserve Officers' Training Corps) is military training for college students. Since the NSTP Act (RA 9163, 2001), basic ROTC is one of three National Service Training Program components students can choose, alongside CWTS and LTS.
How it works:
- Basic ROTC is taken as your NSTP requirement (two semesters)
- Students who continue to advanced ROTC and complete it can be commissioned as reserve officers
- Reservists can be called to duty under the law
What it means for you:
- Choosing ROTC is optional under current law
- It's useful background if you're considering the AFP, PMA or other uniformed services
