Philippine Passport

DFA-issued travel document required for international travel, OFW deployment, and many government applications.

Philippine Passport is issued by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA). Required for:

  • International travel
  • OFW deployment
  • Foreign visa applications
  • Some government applications even without travel intent

Application:

  • DFA appointment booking required (passport.gov.ph)
  • Documents: PSA Birth Certificate, valid government ID, proof of identity
  • Photo capture at appointment
  • Processing: 6-15 working days (regular), 4-7 days (expedite)
  • Cost: ₱950 (regular), ₱1,200 (expedite)

Validity:

  • 10 years for adults (issued after 2017)
  • 5 years for minors

Renewal:

  • Apply 6 months before expiry
  • Many countries require 6 months remaining validity
  • Online appointment system common

What it means for you:

  • First-time applicants need PSA Birth Certificate primarily
  • Renewal needs old passport
  • Lost passport requires affidavit of loss
  • Apostilled documents may need passport copy as ID
