IELTS (International English Language Testing System) measures English proficiency for study, work and migration abroad. It's run by the British Council, IDP and Cambridge.
Two test types:
- IELTS Academic — for university admission and many professional registrations
- IELTS General Training — for many migration and work routes
Test parts:
- Listening (about 30 minutes)
- Reading (60 minutes)
- Writing (60 minutes)
- Speaking (11–14 minutes, face to face with an examiner)
Scoring: band scores from 0 to 9.
What it means for you:
- Check the exact test type and minimum band your university, employer, nursing regulator or migration program asks for
- Many institutions accept results for two years
- Check official IELTS sites for current fees, dates and test centers in the Philippines
