The DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarship (Department of Science and Technology — Science Education Institute) supports students taking priority science, technology, engineering and math courses. It has two tracks: RA 7687 (with socioeconomic criteria) and Merit.
Benefits include a tuition subsidy of up to ₱40,000 a year, a ₱8,000 monthly living allowance and a learning-materials allowance, among others — check SEI's current list.
Who can apply: natural-born Filipinos in Grade 12 (or SHS graduates with no college units). All STEM-strand students may apply; non-STEM students must be in the top 5% of their class.
The qualifying exam:
- Pen-and-paper, multiple choice, in three timed parts (180 minutes in total); four options per item and no penalty for guessing
- The exam for the 2027 scholarships is on 14–15 November 2026 (applications closed 17 September 2026)
- In the 2026 cycle, 8,500 of 97,617 examinees qualified (8.71%)
