PNPA Admission Test General Information Review
PNPA doesn't publish an official subject list for the PNPA Cadet Admission Test (PNPACAT). Reviewers commonly describe a general information and current events component alongside English, math, science and reasoning. Treat this post as a guide to the core knowledge a future officer should have — useful for the test, the interviews and the academy itself.
The 1987 Constitution
- Article II — Declaration of Principles and State Policies, including the principle that civilian authority is supreme over the military
- Article III — the Bill of Rights: due process, searches and seizures, rights of the accused, the right to remain silent and to counsel
- Article XVI, Section 6 — the State shall establish one police force, national in scope and civilian in character
- The three branches of government and how they check each other
Laws on the PNP and public safety
- RA 6975 (Department of the Interior and Local Government Act of 1990) — created the PNP, BFP, BJMP and the Philippine Public Safety College, of which PNPA is part
- RA 8551 (PNP Reform and Reorganization Act of 1998)
- RA 11200 (2019) — the current PNP rank titles: Patrolman, Police Corporal, Police Staff Sergeant … Police Lieutenant, Police Captain and up
- RA 7438 — rights of persons arrested, detained or under custodial investigation
- RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002)
- RA 9262 (Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004)
