PMA Entrance Exam Practice Test Strategy
PMA's entrance exam covers math (algebra and geometry), English (grammar, composition, and reading and comprehension) and the SPMA (verbal and numerical reasoning, pattern analysis). PMA doesn't publish the number of items, the time limit or a scoring rule, so build your practice tests around those three areas and focus on speed and accuracy.
A 12-week schedule

Build each full practice test from reviewer books or question sets covering all three areas, and run it timed in one sitting.
Scoring yourself honestly
- Stop when your timer ends.
- Mark strictly against the answer key and record your score for each area.
- Track your blanks. If you're leaving items unanswered, work on pacing. Follow the instructions on exam day about answering.
After each test
Within 24 hours: tag every wrong answer by topic and note why you missed it.
The next week: give about half your study time to your weakest area.
Train for the fitness test alongside
The written exam is only the first stage. PMA's 2026 announcement told applicants to prepare for a physical fitness test with a 3.2 km run, push-ups and sit-ups. Put two or three training sessions a week into your schedule from week 1 rather than cramming at the end.
Rehearse test day
Make your week-12 test match the real day:
- Start by 7:00 AM — PMA asks applicants to be at the exam centre by then
- Bring only two #2 pencils and a valid ID
- No phone, no breaks outside the test
- Plan the trip to your centre and how early you'll need to leave
