English is one of the four USTET sections, alongside Mental Ability, Mathematics and Science. UST doesn't publish the item types or how many English items there are, so this post covers the skills a strong English section usually demands. It's the plan that the USTET pillar guide hands off to.

Vocabulary
Read one English editorial a day and look up unfamiliar words in context. Twelve weeks of that builds vocabulary better than any list.
Sentence completion
Read the whole sentence, find the context clues, and predict the kind of word that fits before looking at the options.
Sentence improvement
Name the problem first — parallelism, a dangling modifier, a tense shift — then pick the cleanest fix.
Spelling and idioms
- Commonly confused words
- Idiomatic prepositions ("interested in", "different from")
