FEU-CAT: The Complete Guide for Filipino Applicants

Far Eastern University's entrance test is officially the FEU College Admissions Test (FEU-CAT) — you'll also see it written "FEUCAT". Passing it is a qualification for freshman admission. This guide covers how the test is scheduled, the fee and waiver, what it's reported to cover, and a 60-day prep plan.

1. How the FEU-CAT works

Unlike tests with one national date, the FEU-CAT runs on a rolling basis:

1. Apply through FEU's online admissions portal.
2. Pay the ₱500 FEU-CAT fee.
3. Choose Exam Booking, then Launch Exam Booking Page, and pick your preferred FEU-CAT schedule.
4. Log in about two weeks after your test date to see your result.

FEU has regional testing centres for applicants outside Metro Manila. Because slots are booked individually, there's no single "FEUCAT date" — check the booking page for what's open. Details are on FEU's freshman application page.

2. Fee and waiver

• Fee: ₱500
• Waiver: public-school applicants in the Top 10 of their Grade 11 batch can ask for the fee to be waived, with a certification from their principal.
• RA 12006, the Free College Entrance Examinations Act, also requires private universities to waive entrance-test fees for natural-born Filipino applicants in the top 10% of their class whose families are below the poverty threshold.

3. What the FEU-CAT covers

FEU doesn't publish an official breakdown — no section list, item count or duration. Past takers describe a multiple-choice aptitude test covering:

1. English
2. Mathematics
3. Science
4. Mental ability

Treat that as a sensible study scope, not an official blueprint. Item counts and timings you see online are guesses, and they don't agree with each other.

4. How FEU decides

FEU doesn't publish applicant numbers, admission rates or programme cutoffs. Passing the FEU-CAT qualifies you for freshman admission; check the specific requirements of the programme you want on FEU's admissions pages.

5. The 60-day prep plan

Because you choose your own date, you can plan backwards from it. About two to three hours a day for eight weeks.

Weeks 1–2: Diagnose

A timed practice set across English, math, science and mental ability. Find your two weakest areas. Mental ability is often the least familiar, because no senior high subject teaches it directly.

Weeks 3–6: Targeted practice

• Mon/Wed/Fri (90 min): your weakest area
• Tue/Thu (90 min): your second-weakest area
• Saturday (3 hrs): mixed timed practice
• Sunday: rest

Weeks 7–8: Timed practice and booking

Two full timed practice sets a week, with a review day after each. Book your FEU-CAT slot for the end of week 8, and rest the day before.

6. If you don't pass

• Keep other applications open — PUPCET, USTET and other schools' tests run on their own calendars.
• Check FEU's rules on retaking the FEU-CAT with the admissions office before planning around a second attempt.
