DLSU DCAT Practice Test Strategy

DLSU doesn't publish the DCAT's timings, item counts or scoring rules. Past takers report English and reading, math, science and mental-ability sections. Regular timed practice across those areas is the best way to get comfortable with the pace. This post is part of the DLSU DCAT pillar guide.

A 12-week schedule

WeekFull timed practice setSingle-area timed set
11 (diagnostic)—
4—1 (mental ability — the area most students have practised least)
51—
8—1 (math)
91—
11—1 (final targeted set)
121 (test-day conditions)—

Scoring honestly

  • Set a timer and stop when it ends.
  • Mark strictly against the answer key.
  • Count unanswered items as lost points — and fix the pacing that caused them.

After each set

Within 24 hours: score each area, find your weakest, and tag every wrong item by topic.

The next week: about half your time on your weakest area, a third on your second-weakest, the rest on your normal plan.

If you're sitting online

DLSU's online sittings for AY 2027–28 are on 27 November, 4 December and 11 December 2026, each with a mock test two days earlier. Take that mock seriously — it's your chance to check your device, internet connection and room setup. Do some of your own practice on a screen too.

Rehearse test day

For an onsite sitting, make your final practice set match the real day: the same start time, only the materials you're allowed, and a trial run of the commute.
