Medical Technologist Licensure Examination — a month-by-month study plan and how to approach each subject.
The exam in brief
Two days, paper-based, six subjects of 2 hours each: Clinical Chemistry, Microbiology and Parasitology, Hematology, Blood Banking and Serology (20% each), Clinical Microscopy (10%), and Histopathologic Techniques with Med Tech Laws and Ethics (10%). A 75% general average, no major subject below 50%, and you must not fail 60% or more of the subjects by weight. A 70–74% rating qualifies you to register as a Medical Laboratory Technician. 71–84% passed in the last four sittings.

Month 1: Map the subjects

- Build a weekly rotation that touches every subject
Month 2: First half of the syllabus
Clinical Chemistry, Microbiology & Parasitology, Hematology

- Keep an error log
Month 3: Second half of the syllabus
Blood Banking & Serology, Clinical Microscopy, Histopathology & MT Laws

Final month: Exam readiness

Preparation time, passing rule and the next exam date
How long should I prepare for the Med Tech Licensure?
Most reviewees plan for three to six months, depending on how recently they finished their degree. Map every subject first, then give more weeks to the heaviest and weakest subjects.
How do you pass the Med Tech Licensure?
A 75% general average, no major subject below 50%, and you must not fail 60% or more of the subjects by weight. A 70–74% rating qualifies you to register as a Medical Laboratory Technician. 71–84% passed in the last four sittings.
When is the next Med Tech Licensure?
The last Med Tech Licensure was held on 15–16 August 2026. The next one is expected in March 2027 but hasn't been announced by PRC yet. The exam ran in March and August in 2025 and 2026. PRC has not published its 2027 exam schedule yet.
