Common questions about preparing for this exam
Five to six months. ChELE covers four subjects across two weekends — Physical & Chemical Principles, Calculations + Thermo, Unit Ops, and Plant Design. ChE Calculations is computation-heavy and benefits from daily drilling.
PRC requires a general weighted average of 70% with no subject below 50%. Plant Design and Industrial Processes also covers ethics and law — don't treat the regulatory portion as filler.
PRC scheduled the November cycle ChELE for November 14-16, 2026. The May cycle has already passed. ChELE is bi-annual. Application opens through online.prc.gov.ph six to eight weeks ahead.
