What is the LET?
The Licensure Examination for Teachers — better known as the LET — is the PRC board exam every aspiring Filipino teacher has to clear. Roughly 180,000 examinees take Secondary LET each year; another 160,000 sit the Elementary version. It runs twice annually (usually March and September), and the Board for Professional Teachers handles the whole thing.
LET 2026 Schedule
The next LET is in March 2026, with the second cycle in September or October 2026. Applications open about three months before each cycle. Always confirm with PRC — schedules shift more often than people expect.
LET Structure
- General Education — roughly 40% (Elementary) or 20% (Secondary). Covers language, math, science, social science.
- Professional Education — teaching principles, child development, assessment, curriculum. About 60% for Elementary, 40% for Secondary.
- Major / Area of Specialisation — Secondary only. Your teaching major: English, Math, Filipino, Science, etc.
Passing Rate
Recent passing rates hover around 30–35% for Secondary and 25–30% for Elementary. The variance, though, is wild. Top schools clear 80% routinely. Some programmes drop below 10%. The school you reviewed at — and how seriously you took the rationales — matters more than most takers admit.
How to Prepare
Most passers put in 10–12 weeks at 45 minutes a day. Rotate Gen Ed, Prof Ed, and your major so each one stays warm every week. Read the rationales for every practice item — that's not optional. LET questions reward applied understanding of teaching principles, not memorised buzzwords.
