The exam in brief
150 multiple-choice test items plus a 10-item personal-data questionnaire, in 3 hours 5 minutes. 25% is General Ability (verbal, analytical, numerical) and 75% is fire-service content: fire suppression, fire safety and prevention, fire investigation, and BFP administrative law. A general rating of at least 80.00. 16.19% passed in June 2026 and 17.14% in 2022.

Month-by-month BFP Fire Officer Exam plan
Weeks 1–2: Diagnostic
75% of the FOE is fire-service content
- Take a timed practice set: general ability plus fire topics
- List weak areas
- Set a daily 45-minute slot
Weeks 3–6: Fire suppression and prevention
30% + 20% of the exam
- Pre-fire planning, firefighting techniques, tools and apparatus
- The Fire Code of the Philippines and BFP inspection procedures
- Flashcards for code provisions
Weeks 7–9: Investigation, administration, general ability
15% + 10% + 25%
- Arson law, evidence handling and the Rules of Court basics
- RA 6975, RA 9263 and RA 9592
- Verbal, analytical and numerical drills
Final 2 weeks: Full practice tests
80.00 to pass; 3 hours 5 minutes
