PRC Board Exam Application Process: Complete Guide

PRC board exam applications follow a standardised process. Missing requirements means delayed exam by 6 months.

Application timeline

Standard timeline:

  • Application window opens: 4-5 months before exam date
  • Application window closes: 6-8 weeks before exam
  • Documentary submission deadline: usually with application
  • Test slip release: 1-2 weeks before exam
  • Exam date: published 6+ months in advance

PRC LERIS (online application)

PRC's online portal: LERIS (Licensure Examination and Registration Information System).

Steps:

  1. Create LERIS account at prc.gov.ph
  2. Complete personal profile
  3. Upload documentary requirements
  4. Pay examination fee (Bayad Center, GCash, online banking)
  5. Submit application
  6. Wait for application review
  7. Print application form
  8. Submit physical documents (some boards still require)

Standard documentary requirements

For most PRC boards:

Personal documents

  • PSA Birth Certificate (latest, not photocopy)
  • Marriage Certificate (if applicable)
  • 2x2 ID picture (white background)
  • Government-issued ID

Educational documents

  • Transcript of Records (TOR) from your university (latest, sealed)
  • Diploma photocopy
  • Practicum/internship certificates (if relevant to programme)

Specialty requirements (vary by board)

  • For Engineering: practicum certificates, design exposure documentation
  • For Nursing: RLE (Related Learning Experience) verification
  • For LET: BSEd diploma OR CMO 75 Certificate of Completion
  • For CPALE: BS Accountancy diploma + practicum

Common application mistakes

Missing PSA documents

Many candidates have only photocopies of birth certificates. PRC requires PSA-issued (not local civil registrar) certificates.

Fix: order PSA documents 4-6 weeks before application window.

TOR delays

Universities take 2-4 weeks to issue TOR. Request early.

Wrong programme name on TOR

For LET candidates: ensure your TOR clearly states "Bachelor of Secondary Education" or "Bachelor of Elementary Education" with your major.

Photo specifications

PRC requires specific photo format (size, background colour, attire). Don't use casual photos.

Payment reference issues

If paying via Bayad Center or GCash, keep receipt. Reference number required for verification.

Examination fee

Approximate PRC examination fees (2026):

ExamExamination fee
LET (Secondary or Elementary)₱1,000
NLE₱1,000
CPALE₱1,000
Engineering boards₱1,200
CSE₱500
MLE₱900
PhLE₱1,000

Plus documentary stamps (~₱200) + PSA documents (~₱350-₱500).

Total cost (just for application): ~₱1,500-₱2,500.

Test centre selection

LERIS allows selecting preferred test centre (subject to availability):

  • Manila / NCR centres (most demand, fill fastest)
  • Major regional centres (Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Baguio)
  • Smaller provincial centres (less competitive)

If you're flexible, smaller centres may have less crowded testing rooms.

Test schedule

PRC publishes the actual exam date schedule. Mark:

  • Day 1 + Day 2 (if multi-day exam)
  • Subject sequence
  • Start times
  • Allowed materials

Day before exam

Bring:

  • Test slip (printed)
  • 2 valid IDs (one government-issued)
  • PRC-issued pencils + ballpen
  • Wristwatch (analog; digital may not be allowed)
  • Allowed calculator (check rules — some exams don't allow)
  • Light snack + water

Don't bring:

  • Phone (some centres confiscate)
  • Notes / books / cheat materials
  • Bags (many centres have limited storage)

After the exam

Results timeline:

  • Most PRC boards: 4-8 weeks after exam
  • Engineering boards: longer (8-12 weeks)
  • Results posted on prc.gov.ph

Board passers undergo:

  1. Board oath-taking ceremony
  2. PRC ID issuance (within ~3-4 weeks)
  3. Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirement begins
