Choosing a Review Center by Region: NCR, Visayas, Mindanao
Where you live shapes your review center options. Metro Manila has the most centers and schedules, but regional cities and online options mean you don't have to move to Manila to review well.
This guide doesn't rank or name centers. Offerings, branches, schedules and fees change every cycle, so check each center directly and use the checks below.
Metro Manila (NCR)
NCR has the widest choice: more centers, more exam-specific programs, more class schedules (weekday, weekend, evening) and more in-person mock sessions.
The trade-offs:
- Traffic and commute time eat into study hours
- Rent and daily costs are higher if you relocate for review
- Big classes are common at popular centers
Strategy: pick a center near where you live or work. A long daily commute burns the energy you need for studying.
Regional cities (Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Bacolod, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro and others)
Major regional cities often have review centers for the high-volume exams, such as LET, NLE and the Civil Service Exam, and sometimes for engineering or accountancy boards. Some larger centers run branches in several regions; smaller local centers may focus on one or two exams.
The trade-offs:
- Fewer choices for less common exams
- Fewer schedule options
- Lower living costs than Metro Manila, and you can often stay at home
Strategy: vet local centers carefully, and ask whether they cover your exam's current coverage in full or rely on recorded lectures from another branch.
Provincial towns
In smaller towns, there may be no review center for your exam at all.
Strategy:
- Online review for daily study
- Flashcards and spaced repetition for memory-heavy subjects
- A local study group for accountability
- Occasional trips to the nearest city for intensive sessions or mock exams, if a center offers them
Choosing by exam type
College entrance tests (UPCAT, ACET, DCAT, USTET and others)
In-person entrance-test review is easiest to find in big cities, and many students review online. Check each school's admission bulletin for the current test format before paying for any review.
LET, NLE and the Civil Service Exam
These are high-volume exams, so review options are the most widespread across regions. Quality varies, so vet the specific center and branch, not just the brand.
CPALE and engineering boards
Specialized review for smaller-volume boards may only be offered in a few cities near you, or not at all. Some candidates relocate for the review months; others combine online review with shorter in-person sessions.
Plan for the exam venue too
PRC and the CSC hold exams in testing centers across the regions (not every exam in every region), and you choose your testing venue when you apply. Factor travel and accommodation for exam day into your budget, especially if your nearest testing center is in another city.
What to check before you pay
Cost
Get the full price in writing, including materials and mock exams. Compare 3-4 centers, and add travel or rent if you'd relocate.
Schedule
Some centers run weekend-only programs (good if you work); others run daily classes.
Distance
A long commute each way cuts directly into study time.
Track record
Ask for results by cycle, with the number of enrollees, not a single headline pass rate.
Class size
Ask how many students are in each class and whether you can ask questions during or after sessions.
