How to get into the University of the Philippines (UPCAT path)

The path: Senior High → UPCAT → University Predicted Grade → UP admission

Education: Grade 11 students (graduating the following year), or Grade 12 students and graduates who have never taken UPCAT and have no college units

    Keep your grades steady

    Your Grades 8–11 grades count toward your University Predicted Grade.

    Apply for UPCAT

    In recent cycles, applications opened in March.

  3. 3

    Take the UPCAT

    It has run on the first weekend of August in recent cycles.

  4. 4

    Check your results and confirm

    Results have come out in April; qualifiers confirm their slot by the deadline UP sets.

About the UPCAT

  • Four subtests: Language Proficiency and Reading Comprehension (both in English and Filipino), Mathematics and Science. Paper-based, about five hours.
  • Your UPCAT score is combined with your Grades 8–11 grades into your University Predicted Grade. UP doesn't publish the weighting.
  • UPCAT 2027 was held on 1–2 August 2026 with about 153,000 examinees; results are expected in the first half of 2027. UPCAT 2028 hasn't been announced.
  • No application fee for Filipino citizens, and one UPCAT per person.
