Review Centre vs AI Review: A Filipino Parent's Decision Framework

Five questions every PH parent should ask before paying for a review centre package. When a classroom programme fits, and when app-based review is the smarter spend.

Five Questions Before You Pay

Before your family commits to a review centre package, run through these five questions. They reveal whether classroom review, app review, or both is the right fit for your learner. Saves a lot of regret later.

1. Does your learner have a fixed weekly schedule?

Review centre programmes run on set class hours, often several sessions a week across a whole review season. If your learner works, studies full-time, or has family obligations that can't flex around those hours, app review wins. If their schedule is predictable and open, classroom fits.

2. How does your learner study best?

Some learners need external accountability — a live instructor, a cohort, a weekly quiz they can't skip. Others do better alone with self-paced practice quizzes and an AI tutor for questions. If you know your learner tends to procrastinate when unsupervised, classroom structure pays off. Be honest here, not optimistic.

3. Is there a review centre nearby?

Metro Manila and major cities have several review centre options. Provinces often have one — or none — within commuting distance. If your learner lives where classroom review means 2+ hours of daily travel, the commute cost alone argues for an app.

4. What's the total budget across commute + books + retakes?

The package fee isn't the total. Add daily commute and books and a classroom cycle can cost well above its sticker price. If a first attempt fails, the next cycle often means paying again. Super Tutor is ₱1,999 for a full year, paid once, or from ₱249 a month with auto-pay — covering chapter study material, practice quizzes and the AI tutor for one exam, plus full mock exams for UPCAT, CSE Professional, LET Elementary, NLE, Midwifery, Civil Engineering and Geodetic Engineering.

5. Is your learner a first-time taker or retaker?

Retakers usually know the content. They just need targeted drills on the domains that failed last time. A full classroom repeat is expensive and demoralising — you're paying to relearn what you already know. Retakers especially benefit from app-based focused practice.

A Simple Decision Matrix

  • Classroom wins: fixed-schedule first-time taker, needs accountability, lives near a branch, has the budget for the full cycle.
  • App wins: working / shift-worker, retaker, province-based, budget-constrained, studies well alone.
  • Both: highest-stakes exams (LET, NLE, CPALE) where a classroom programme plus daily app practice gives the best of both.
